Jim Cunningham is a founding member of The Actors Theater of Minnesota (ATM). He has appeared as Groucho in “THE COCOANUTS” and as Charles Dickens in “A CHRISTMAS CAROL” which he produced, co-directed and adapted for the stage. He was also one of The Three Guys in Tights for ATM’s smash hit “THE COMPLEAT WRKS OF WLLM SHKSPR-ABRIDGED”(which is re-staged every Summer on The Bowling Green at Brit’s Pub in Minneapolis!). Cunningham was the original “Tony” in Hey City Theater’s long-running show “TONY AND TINA’S WEDDING”. For five years, he also delighted audiences in “HAUNTINGS OR DO YOU BELIEVE IN GHOSTS” an evening of magic and mystery he adapted for the Twin Cities. Jim’s additional theatrical credits include three years in the Resident Improv Company at Dudley Riggs Brave New Workshop, 2 years with The Illusion Theatre, and he was featured in the two man show “THE MYSTERY OF IRMA VEP” at the Milwaukee Repertory Theater. In December of 2006 he produced, co-directed and appeared in “IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE, A LIVE RADIO PLAY” for The Saint Paul Hotel which completed it’s 3rd succesful year in December of 2008 and will be re-staged thru 2010.
His numerous television commercial credits include Subway, National Camera and Video Exchange, Grandma’s Saloon & Grill and as “The Carsoup Guy” among others. Cunningham’s voice is also familiar from his many radio and TV voice overs. Cunningham recently wrapped up his second season as the voice of “Derrick the Truck” in the animated series “AUTO B GOOD”.
Jim was the host of “MALL OF AMERICA, THE SHOW” a weekly magazine format television show, that ran for two years and highlighted the many things to see and do at Mall of America. He shot for two seasons as host of “EXPLORE MINNESOTA” a weekly television show featuring the Land of 10000 Lakes in all it’s glory. Most recently he hosted “GOLF NUT” for WCCO TV, a one hour television special celebarting The PGA Championship at Hazeltine.
Cunningham is also “The Minister of Fun” for The Minnesota Twins (14 seasons) and The Minnesota Wild (8 seasons).
In 2009, Cunningham celebrates his 19th year as host of “THE FEAST OF FANTASY” at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival where last season they turned him into a Bobblehead! In the Spring of 2003 he created “THE PLEASURE FEAST” for The Arizona Renaissance Festival in Phoenix and has been Feast Master there ever since.
For the last 3 years Cunningham was also the host of his own radio show where he talked sports and entertainment, among other things. “THE HAPPY HOUR with Jim Cunningham” was heard M-F from 4PM-6PM on WMGT The Mighty 1220AM.
A native of St. Paul Minnesota, Jim and his charming, patient wife Rachel are the proud parents of three children, Claire 16, Jake 14 and Anni 8.
